Living Boldly For Jesus
Will you be the kind of Christian who gives in to compromise, or will you live boldly for Jesus?
Throughout church history, faithful Christians have faced persecution, suffering, and even death rather than deny their Savior. In Revelation 2:8–11, Jesus speaks to the suffering church in Smyrna, a congregation experiencing poverty, slander, and tribulation. Rather than promising an escape from their suffering, Jesus calls them to remain faithful, even unto death.
In this sermon, we consider the examples of Hugh Latimer, Boniface, and Polycarp alongside the biblical accounts of Job and Daniel. Together, they help us understand what it means to follow Christ without compromise.
But how do we become Christians who live with this kind of courage? Jesus teaches us to see our circumstances from heaven's perspective. He knows our suffering, reminds us of our true riches in Christ, and promises the crown of life to those who conquer.
Because Jesus died and came to life, his people can face suffering, persecution, and even death with confidence in the risen King.
