Return to Your First Love
Sep 27, 2026 • Matt Schiesser
The church in Ephesus had a lot going for it. They worked hard, endured faithfully, rejected false teaching, and cared deeply about the truth. Jesus commended them for all of it.
But then came the words: “I have this against you.”
They had abandoned the love they had at first.
In Revelation 2:1–7, Jesus reminds his church that faithfulness is more than guarding the truth. He wants a people who love him enough to defend the truth and love others enough to share it.
His call to Ephesus is still his call to the church today: remember, repent, and return. Remember the goodness of Christ. Repent where love has grown cold. Return to the works that once flowed naturally from a heart amazed by Jesus.
