The Tenth Word

The final commandment, “You shall not covet,” uniquely addresses the heart, exposing the root of all sin—disordered desire. In this closing message of the Law of God series, we learn that God’s law not only governs our actions but confronts our inward cravings and reveals our deep need for heart transformation. Coveting reveals a discontented heart that accuses God of withholding good. Yet through Christ, we receive new hearts empowered by the Spirit to walk in gratitude, not greed. This sermon unpacks four ways we must read God’s commands—as revelation, confrontation, instruction, and promise—and points us to the freedom of contentment through the gospel.
